Job Title: Social Media Manager – MYER
The Marketing Team is seeking a Social Media Manager – MYER who will own the social platform strategy, channel identity and always‐on publishing for the MYER brand.
About the role:
- Own and lead the social platform strategy for MYER brand across Meta (Facebook & Instagram), TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube and emerging platforms defining the role, tone and content approach for each channel.
- Build and maintain a distinctive, ownable channel identity for MYER on social ensuring the brand's social presence reflects its positioning and resonates with its target audience across every platform.
- Stay ahead of platform developments, algorithm changes, new features and emerging channels proactively identifying opportunities to evolve MYER's social strategy in response.
- Provide a clear point of view on emerging and new platforms, making evidence‐based recommendations to the Senior Content Manager and Head of Content & Production.
- Build and maintain the MYER social content calendar in alignment with the editorial plan, brand campaigns, category priorities and key cultural and retail moments.
- Oversee the scheduling and publishing of all MYER brand social content, ensuring assets are delivered on time, to platform specification and to the required quality standard.
- Work closely with the Traffic Manager to ensure social briefs are submitted and scheduled within the content production pipeline with sufficient lead time for quality creative development.
- Partner with the Agency and In‐house Creatives and Content teams to ensure social‐first asset creation is embedded into the production process from brief through to delivery.
- Brief and direct social content shoots, video and motion assets, ensuring all creative is developed with a platform‐native, social‐first mindset from the outset rather than adapted from campaign assets.
- Champion formats that are native to each platform including Reels, TikTok, Stories, YouTube Shorts etc ensuring MYER's content feels genuinely platform‐native rather than cross‐posted.
- Lead community management standards and practices across all MYER brand social accounts, ensuring the brand engages with its audience in a timely on‐brand manner.
- Build and grow MYER's social audience through consistent, quality content and genuine community engagement that creates brand loyalty and advocacy.
- Own the performance reporting framework for MYER brand social channels — tracking reach, engagement rate, follower growth, impressions, link clicks and conversion metrics across all platforms.
- Deliver regular performance reports and insights to the Senior Content Manager, identifying what is working, what is not, and making clear recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor competitor social activity and industry benchmarks, ensuring MYER's social performance is tracked against best‐in‐class standards.
- Lead and develop the MYER social team building a high‐performing, platform‐fluent team culture.
About you:
- 5–7+ years of professional social media experience for brands across key social platforms, with at least 1–2 years in a management or lead capacity.
- Proven experience owning end‐to‐end social media strategy, platform management and always‐on publishing for a brand with significant scale and audience.
- Deep platform expertise across Meta (Facebook & Instagram), TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube with a genuine curiosity for emerging platforms and new content formats.
- Strong background in social content planning, editorial strategy, copywriting and campaign social extensions across multiple channels simultaneously.
- Experience leading a small social team, with demonstrated ability to coach, develop and direct social specialists and coordinators.
- Experience working within a content or publishing team structure, with an understanding of production workflows and brief management processes.
- Demonstrated ability to brief and direct social‐first content shoots and creative development in partnership with production and creative teams.
- Proficiency in social media management and scheduling platforms (Sprout Social, Dash Hudson, Later or similar) and social analytics tools.
- Solid knowledge of Meta Business Manager, TikTok Ads Manager and platform‐native analytics tools.
- Experience in social listening, community management and social crisis management.
- A deep understanding of the Australian retail, fashion and lifestyle landscape is highly desirable.
