About The Role
We're seeking a motivated Sustainability and Resilience Officer to deliver meaningful environmental outcomes for Council and the community. You will support the development and implementation of key strategies, including the Climate, Resilience, Biodiversity, Tree & Bushland strategies, the Electric Vehicle Position Paper, and broader urban futures planning.

Key Responsibilities Of This Role Include

* Research and analyse sustainability and resilience issues to inform policy and strategy.
* Prepare clear, evidence-based reports and presentations for Council's consideration.
* Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide practical advice that balances ambition with deliverability.
* Integrate sustainability considerations across planning, operations, and capital works.

This role requires connecting stakeholders, building trust, and embedding sustainability outcomes within Council's governance and operations. Your work will deliver tangible community benefits and help shape the future of sustainability and resilience in the Sutherland Shire.

Who We're Looking For

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

* Tertiary qualifications and/or experience relevant to sustainability, resilience, engineering, or environment fields.
* Strong research and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Demonstrated experience in sustainability project management and the ability to undertake several successful projects simultaneously with exceptional time management skills.
* Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with stakeholders.
* The ability to work both autonomously, use initiative to problem solve and work collaboratively in a team environment
* A Working with Children Check and Class C Drivers Licence is required.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders, contribute to cross-discipline projects, and identify opportunities for innovation in sustainability practises.

* Package:$88,129 - $93,415 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
* Hours of work:Permanent Full Time.You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council's flex system.
