Our client, a national organisation within the aviation sector, is seeking a Transition and Sustainment Project Manager for the Towers Traffic Replacement Program.

The Transition and Sustainment Project Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation is ready to accept the new Integrated Air Traffic Control Suite (IATS) into service across Australia. This role is responsible for planning and implementing the support framework required for the successful deployment and ongoing sustainment of IATS, and will oversee the uplift of technical capability.
Collaboration with Procurement and vendor partners will develop and manage the IATS support agreement, ensuring alignment with operational and technical requirements, and lead initiatives to ensure engineers and technicians are trained and ready to support the system in accordance with the support agreement.
Management of the end-to-end delivery of the technical training platform and technical change readiness across multiple capital cities (Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth) – ensuring people, logistics, procedures, documents and asset acceptance are ready.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of Transition and Sustainment Strategy and implementation to ensure long-term sustainability.
Provide guidance to procurement and legal teams to establish appropriate support contracts with suppliers and service providers.
Lead stakeholder engagement and liaison with program managers, engineers and discipline specialists to meet technical change requirements and address risks.
Direct completion of the Technical Change Lifecycle Form, ensuring timely completion of applicable works.
Provide support to Technical Training delivery, from needs assessment through to training and certification of staff.
Identify potential risks and develop proactive mitigation plans.
Support implementation of quality control processes to maintain the highest level of program performance and functionality during sustainment.
Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports and documentation on the status of transition and sustainment efforts.
Contribute to continuous review and refinement of sustainment strategies and practices, seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensure all sustainment activities adhere to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
Demonstrated experience in complex project management delivery.
Project management qualifications; experience desirable.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to contribute to strategies and concepts, and maintain collaborative relationships at various levels.
Strong knowledge of sustainment principles, risk management, and contract management.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with ability to motivate cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated sound judgement and business acumen focused on results in a service delivery environment.
Ability to establish and maintain strategic relationships to facilitate partnerships and cooperation.
Practical knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support Concepts and Plans.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, data-driven decision making.
Budget management experience, including effective resource allocation.
