Mornington Island Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to provide advanced clinical leadership, drive quality patient outcomes, and support our dedicated nursing team. This is a permanent, full‐time role offering autonomy, variety, and the chance to influence best‐practice care in a close‐knit community.
About The Role
You'll play a key leadership role in delivering high‐quality, person‐centred care in a remote Level 2 hospital environment. You will practice with autonomy, apply advanced clinical judgement, and support the team across clinical practice, education, research, and quality improvement. This role is essential to maintaining safe, compassionate, culturally responsive care for our community.
* Provide advanced clinical leadership in assessment, care planning and delivery for patients with complex needs.
* Contribute to improving systems, protocols, and quality initiatives, driving safe and effective patient care.
* Support ongoing learning within the unit through education, mentoring, and promoting evidence‐based practice.
Working with us
* Isolation bonus: AUD$3,605 for 1 year; AUD$10,815 for 2 years; AUD$7,210 pro‐rata for part‐time or for 3rd year and every year thereafter.
* 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.

* Additional benefits: 2 weeks p.a., travel as required, and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.
* Staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Requirements
* Relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
* C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
* Pre‐employment screening including Criminal History checks.
* VPD risk role may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
* Possible period of probation.

Mornington Island, also known as Kunhanhaa, is the largest of 22 islands in the Wellesley Islands group located in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland.
