Based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and reporting directly to the General Counsel and Director, Legal, Assurance and Governance, the Deputy General Counsel provides high‑quality legal advice to key internal stakeholders and leads the legal team within the Office of General Counsel (OGC). The role manages a team of legal practitioners and applies advanced legal expertise to ensure compliance and protect the University’s interests. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the Deputy General Counsel develops practical, legally sound solutions aligned with the university’s strategic priorities, policies and procedures.
We are looking for an experienced legal executive with a current unrestricted Australian Practicing certificate and demonstrated ability to provide strategic and commercially sound advice across a diverse range of specialised and complex legal and regulatory issues. Experience as a senior in‑house legal counsel for a not‑for‑profit entity and/or in the higher education sector would be beneficial.
