CASUAL THEATRE ORDERLY
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Theatre Orderly/Porter to join our Perioperative Services team at Sydney Southwest Private Hospital. This role provides vital support to the Operating Theatres and PACU (Recovery Unit), ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care for our patients.
Responsibilities
* Cultivating a hospitable and friendly environment for all patients
* Work as an active team member to support all work tasks
* Safe transfer of patients to and from the operating theatre
* Maintaining a safe patient environment including the setup and cleaning of theatres during procedures
* Providing support to the nursing staff
* Safely transport patients to and from theatres, recovery, wards, and other hospital areas
* Assist with patient transfers and positioning
* Prepare, clean, and restock theatres as required
* Deliver specimens, equipment, and supplies promptly and safely
Essential Criteria
* Ability to prioritise and organise work, with minimal supervision
* Excellent customer service, organisational and communication skills; high level attention to detail
* Flexibility, reliability and ability to work under pressure
* Certificate III in Health Support Services or equivalent desired
* Previous experience in a hospital orderly/porter role (desirable, but not essential)
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A caring, patient-focused approach with a commitment to safety
* Physical capacity to perform manual handling and patient transfers
