Birthing services in the Northern Territory (NT) are provided in 4 geographical locations.
Our models of care include:
Midwifery Group Practice (caseload/continuity of carer)
Team Midwifery
Remote Area Maternity Care
General Practitioner Obstetrician Care
Shared Care
Public Hospital Maternity Care
Public Hospital High Risk Maternity Care
To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of 12 months experience in a relevant area of clinical practice and meet all the selection criteria outlined below.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing/midwifery care to an allocated group of clients.
* Work within the registered nurse/midwife scope of practice and follow relevant legislation, procedures, guidelines and standards.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and act as an effective member.
* Maintain a safe environment for healthcare consumers and staff, modifying work practices where necessary.
* Demonstrate NTH values – safe; responsive; kind – in all decision making and interactions.
* Foster a positive workplace culture through role modelling.
* Follow service quality standards and Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
* Candidates must be willing to work shift work and be redeployed to other clinical areas as needed.
Selection Criteria:
1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
2. Demonstrated understanding of client care coordination resulting in positive clinical outcomes.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Understanding of social and cultural issues influencing health care provision.
5. Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement principles.
