Business Manager (COO

* Highly regarded youth-led organisation
* Broad operational leadership role – Melbourne or Sydney - hybrid/WFH
* Salary $130K package (incl super)

The Organisation:

Our client is an Australian not-for-profit youth-led organisation focused on prevention-based education and community initiatives that promote safety, respect, and wellbeing for young people.

Due to rapid growth to date, and an ambitious strategic plan to scale nationally, the organisation is now seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) in this newly created role.

The Role:

The COO role has been established to strengthen the organisation's operational backbone, enabling the CEO to focus on external strategy and partnerships. Reporting to the CEO, you will act as their strategic partner and operational right hand, responsible for driving operational excellence, systems maturity, and team alignment to deliver on a three-year strategy.

Operating with high autonomy and trust, you will translate big-picture strategy into actionable plans, and design and implement systems, processes and governance to enable sustainable growth and impact.

The key areas of focus are:

* Strategic Leadership
* Organisational Operations
* Financial Management
* Risk, Compliance & Governance
* Security & IT Oversight

The Person:

To be successful in the role, you will need to have:

* Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent demonstrable experience e.g. Finance/Accounting.
* Proven experience as a COO or similar executive management role, working closely with a purpose-driven CEO/Board to deliver strategic outcomes.
* Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to balance operational decisions against both financial sustainability and social impact.
* Experience in budgeting and financial forecasting, management and financial reporting and managing audits.
* Demonstrated experience negotiating and executing contracts.
* Knowledge of Governance frameworks, Board reporting requirements and compliance obligations, particularly as it relates to the not-for-profit sector e.g. ACNC.
* Proficiency in planning, coordinating and delivering cross-functional initiatives using structured methodologies.
* Demonstrated passion for the organisation's mission.

The Offer:

This role is a permanent position offered on a full-time or part-time (0.8) basis with pro rata salary, based in either Melbourne or Sydney. A competitive salary package of $130K, including superannuation, will be offered to the successful candidate.
