About us
The Emergency Department is a dynamic workplace which treats both Adult and Paediatric populations. It is made up of 25 acute patient treatment areas, 3 resuscitation bays, triage, and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) assessment areas, and a Fast-Track area which treats less acute presentations. The Emergency Department also manages a 12-bed Short Stay Unit. The department sees on average 140 patients per 24-hour period, managing a vast range of clinical presentations, and works with patients from culturally diverse backgrounds. As a result of being a referral hospital for Central Queensland, the Emergency Department sees a large amount of critically unwell and trauma cases and works closely with the Royal Flying Doctor's Service (RFDS).
About the role
* Effectively communicate with consumers and demonstrate understanding, empathy, patience and a positive service focus.
* Maintain a high level of confidentiality and act as primary point of contact for the Nurse Unit Manager for all incoming and outgoing communications relating to staff matters.
* Organise, coordinate, and manage all secretarial and administrative aspects, including diary management, for the Nurse Unit Manager and staff in a professional manner.
* Screen calls and re‐direct where appropriate, answer routine queries, prioritise calls.
* Carry out administrative duties associated with recruitment related activities including submission of requests to advertise, booking interviews, sourcing and compiling relevant nursing and midwifery workforce paperwork to support the Nurse Unit Manager.
* Achieve work targets with limited supervision and contribute to team goals in a changing environment.
About you
* Research skills to locate patient information when required for reports being completed by the Nurse Unit Manager.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills, and the ability to perform duties on a day to day basis in the absence of decision makers.
* Possession of a working knowledge or an ability to rapidly acquire a sound knowledge of medical terminology.
* High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with officers at all levels within a large organisation, the general public and external agencies with the possession of tact, diplomacy and discretion.
* Demonstrated high level of proficiency in reception and administrative duties, keyboard and contemporary word processing and spreadsheet skills appropriate to the position. Knowledge of, or an ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of myHR, S4HANA, HBCIS, and other hospital specific software.
What we offer
Total remuneration value of up to $3,088 p.m. is comprised of:
* An hourly rate between $39.98 - $44.46 p.h.
* 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
