THE ROLE
The Role
The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM), Urology and Robotic Services is responsible for the provision ofefficientandeffectiveoperatingservicesthatachieveoptimal patient outcomes. They ensure the deliveryofhigh-quality nursing and perioperative care in accordancewith legislative requirements and professional guidelines.TheNUMmanagestheresourcesandstaffofthespecialties within their discipline mix. They will providemanagement,mentorship, andsupportintheachievement of excellence in nursing practice. The NUMwill promote a culture that embraces best practice andidentifies,evaluatesandincorporatesappropriateemerging trends in the practice of the clinical disciplineswithin theirunit.
Key Accountabilities of the role include (not limited to):
1. Coordinate the efficient use of operating sessions in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, Perioperative Services, Theatre Floor Nurse Unit Manager, Evening Floor Coordinator, After Hours Manager, Theatre Scheduler, Anaesthetists and Surgeons
2. Manage the clinical processes within the service to achieve and maintain optimal levels of efficiency in clinical practice & ensure a culture of patient advocacy in the provision of care
3. Maintain open and effective communication with other Nurse Unit Managers, Evening Floor Coordinator, After Hours Manager, Theatre Scheduler, Anaesthetists, and Surgeons
4. Act as a role model within and external to the organisation by providing professional leadership and upholding the values of MQ Health and the Nursing profession
5. Promote quality activities and coordinate quality improvement projects within the department & Manage critical incidents.
About You:
Reporting to Acting Associate Director of Perioperative Services, the Nurse Unit Manager will lead, manage, and run our busy Endoscopy Unit. The role is is responsible for the provision of efficient and effective operating services that achieve optimal patient outcomes care of Endoscopy team. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care in accordance with legislative requirements and professional guidelines. The successful candidate will manage the resources within its discipline mix and will provide management, mentorship, and support in the achievement of excellence in nursing practice.
