Job Summary
In this role you will support the preparation and implementation of the projects Environmental Management Program. You will work with functional leads, evaluation performance trends, and provide technical advice on environmental management and mitigation measures to the ES&H and construction teams. Your demonstrated leadership will ensure protection of environmentally sensitive areas, species and cultural heritage areas. This role will be a field based role.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance of the environmental management program, inclusive of technical and administrative aspects
- Provide guidance to contractors on compliance with regulatory and client requirements for their work activities
- Undertake risk assessments, data analysis, and implementation of the Bechtel ES&H Management system to ensure tracking of requirements and continual improvement actions are identified
- Preparation of reports, reviews, and perform environmental assessments and audits, researching issues to support environmental program execution, and evaluation of the performance trends
- Participation in ES&H emergency preparedness planning to assess compliance with contractual commitments, laws and regulations, environmental permits and Bechtel/Client requirements
- Development and maintenance of project Construction Environmental Management Plan and sub plans/procedures
- Support the project in the implementation of Project and Operational procedures
- Identification of environmental best practices for implementation
- Evolve and adaption of the environmental management program throughout execution
- Undertake contractual progress meetings and provide leadership updates to the team(s)
- Stakeholder engagement with Bechtel and client leadership teams
- Undertake field compliance activities including: environmental sampling and monitoring, environmental technical contractor management, environmental inspections
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelors degree in the environmental sciences / engineering fields with 7-10 years of relevant experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to utilise Microsoft office programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Demonstrated experience with construction projects site establishment, earthworks, civil works and marine works
- Experience in management of environmental management systems including compliance tracking, technical report writing and development of dashboards appropriate to the audiences. Ability to develop and conduct audits and inspections
- Demonstrated ability in management of complex stakeholder environments
