Overview
Engineering Delivery Lead role at Leidos Australia. This position supports a range of Defence Technology initiatives for the Australian Government, with a centralised engineering support team and opportunities to work on the latest technology in the Defence sector. Our Maritime Team will focus on sustaining and introducing new capabilities into service for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), focusing on weather monitoring and hydrographic survey systems. The Engineering Delivery Lead will lead the engineering team and coordinate delivery within Defence programs. Responsibilities
Drive engineering outcomes, allocate technical resources, and set the team’s tempo. Serve as the primary customer-facing technical lead, fostering confidence and alignment with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA). Apply structured approaches to design, assurance, and risk management within the Defence setting. Support the development of graduate engineers to ensure capability growth and team continuity. Contribute to reports, support design efforts, oversee task completion, participate in Change Review Boards (CRBs), and drive capability development. What You’ll Bring To Make An Impact
Proven experience applying structured systems engineering approaches to design, assurance, and risk management—especially within Defence environments. Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, allocate resources effectively, and maintain delivery momentum across complex projects. Experience engaging directly with clients (e.g., Commonwealth of Australia), building trust and guiding technical direction proactively.
