Cook up your career as our Senior Payroll Officer:
The Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for supporting the payroll team with efficient and effective end-to-end payroll services across a payroll of 20,000+ employees. This is achieved through accurate processing of weekly and periodic payroll tasks such as onboarding new employees, masterfile changes, employee terminations, exception report checking, processing of superannuation, payroll tax and end of period finance-related tasks.

What You’ll Be Cookin’ Up
- Processing weekly masterfile changes, onboarding new employees, exception checking and complex employee terminations
- Processing employee allowances and deductions and managing remittances to external vendors including government agencies (eg. child support, government paid parental leave, novated leases)
- Responding to employee and manager queries including award interpretation and payroll-related time and attendance queries
- Processing monthly superannuation reconciliations and remittance to clearing house
- Processing monthly payroll tax remittance across all states (except ACT)
- Undertaking weekly / monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Time and attendance scenario testing (product enhancements / new releases)
- Data analysis and report writing as required (using crystal reporting or excel)
- Providing training and support to stores on system processes and procedures
- Documenting payroll and system related procedures and checklists
What We're Looking For
- Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced weekly payroll (5,000-10,000+ employees)
- Experience working with payroll systems and time and attendance systems
- High level numeracy and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, in particular Excel
- Experience with payroll reporting tools highly regarded (eg. Crystal reporting)
- Sound knowledge of payroll-related legislation including superannuation, tax and Fair Work
- Experience with documenting payroll procedures
- Payroll Certification (eg. APA or TAPS) (preferred but not essential)
- Demonstrate accounting knowledge and understanding of the correlation between Payroll and Finance
