Role Details

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health, Alcohol and/or Other Drugs Worker to join their team on a permanent basis.

This role is classified in accordance with the Phase 2 outcome provided under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No. 1) 2019.

A Phase 3 process will occur to confirm the classification of the role.

This process may result in changes to the role description, position title and classification and remuneration levels, however there will be no loss of employment conditions or remuneration for employees.

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.


Your Opportunity

The purpose of the role is to improve health outcomes by ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are engaged and consulted in the development and delivery of person centered culturally safe MHAOD services.

Services and activities include prevention, education, intervention and promotion to people, families and community groups, in keeping with mental health service standards.

This role also contributes to the broader MHHS initiatives to Closing the Gap.


About the Team

The community CYMHS team provides intake, assessment, treatment and case management services to young people (and families) with moderate to severe mental health issues.
