About the Role
Boresight is seeking a talented Financial Controller, responsible for day-to-day finance operations including budgeting, payroll, and general accounting practices. This role is for a CA/CPA qualified finance professional who is seeking a flexible position in an innovative scale-up drone business. This is a part-time position based at Boresight’s engineering office in Fyshwick, Canberra.

Role Responsibilities
* Process journal entries, bank reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger
* Ensure compliance with Australian tax obligations, including BAS, PAYG, payroll tax, and superannuation
* Prepare BAS, IAS and FBT lodgments
* Manage Payroll processing
* Manage Accounts receivable & payable
* Manage Staff Expenses, Quotes and Invoices
* Provide high-value business advisory solutions
* Ensure company records remain accurate and compliant
* Implement and improve financial processes, controls, and reporting practices
* Assist in the creation and maintenance of a financial risk register
* Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as required
* Prepare financial reports for monthly management meetings
* Assist in the development of annual budgets and monitor performance against agreed targets
* Prepare rolling forecasts to support strategic and operational planning
Essential Qualifications
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline with CA/CPA qualifications
* 3-5+ years’ experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally within SME or ASX listed entity
* Strong working knowledge of Australian tax compliance and payroll
* Well-developed analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
* Provide financial insights, forecasting, and performance reporting to support decision-making
* Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives
Desired Qualifications
* Experience using Xero and Quickbooks
* Experience with financial operations within a manufacturing company

* Equivalent full-time salary range between $125,000 and $135,000 pro-rata excluding superannuation depending on the candidate.
