Offer description

As the Flow Coordinator (Clinical Nurse), you will use your advanced nursing skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to ensure patients are safely transitioned to the right care areas within the Rockhampton Hospital.

This role will function in the context of a busy Emergency Department with significant challenges in relation to delays in transferring patients to in-patient areas which limits the ability to manage incoming patients in a timely manner. Our Emergency Department sees on average 130 patients in a 24-hour period and sees a vast range of clinical presentations and patients from culturally diverse backgrounds.

If you're ready to lead with confidence, support efficiency, and help shape exceptional patient experiences, then what are you waiting for? Read our Role Description to find out more

About us:

The Emergency Department is a dynamic workplace which treats both adult and paediatric populations. It is made up of 28 acute patient treatment areas including 3 resuscitation bays and a fast-track area which treats less acute presentations. The Emergency Department also manages a 12-bed short stay unit and a transit lounge. The Rockhampton Hospital is a referral hospital for Central Queensland and the Emergency Department sees many critically unwell patients and trauma cases.

About the role:

The Emergency Department Flow Commander (ED Flo-Co) role is a Clinical Nurse position that reports to the Patient Access Coordination Hub (PACH) Nurse Manager, working in collaboration with the Emergency Department shift coordinator, allied health, medical teams and key internal and external partners to facilitate the flow of patients in and out of the ED. This includes working closely with the PACH Nurse Manager to co-ordinate internal transfers and to facilitate timely movement of patients from the ED to home or to other facilities. This focus is mostly on admitted patients in ED but also includes patients who are not admitted who require discharge support.

The role also includes identifying factors that can decrease the length of stay for patients in the ED, liaising with medical officers, allied health and imaging staff to ensure there are no delays to treatment or reviews.

About you:

* Registration as a Registered Nurse, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate.
* Although not mandatory, experience in emergency department nursing is preferred.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $121,486 p.a. is comprised of:

* An hourly rate between $ $58.30 p.h.

Additional Benefits

* Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
* Generous Salary Sacrificing Options
