About the Opportunity Westgold Resources are on the lookout for a detail oriented Underground Senior Geologists to assist in the implementation and execution of geological tasks on a family friendly 8:6 roster at Beta Hunt Operations in the Southern Goldfields.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and maintaining the diamond drill schedule to obtain all required data to produce block models inline with the requirement of the mining schedule.
Westgold has commenced infill drilling Stage 1 of the Fletcher Zone, with the additional data targeted towards delivering a maiden Ore Reserve for Stage 1 during FY26.
In parallel, drilling is planned to commence within the Fletcher Stage 2 target area, the northern kilometre of Fletcher, in the first half of FY26.
This result points to the growth potential of Beta Hunt, and while this is a material milestone for Westgold, it is simply the first step on what is likely to be a multi-decade journey for Fletcher in an expanded Beta Hunt mine plan.
The role includes Accountable for all mine geology activities including monitoring and tracking ore mining activities Producing and maintaining the diamond drill schedule, ensuring that all proposals are signed off Contributing to delivering the resource model updates upon drill program completion in line with the mine planning requirements Geological reconciliation, providing advice to operations to assist minimising dilution, recovering the highest proportion of economic mineralisation and maximising the commercial outcome of the site in line with corporate guidance Grade control, ore production and geological reconciliation standards in conjunction with the Perth Technical Team Assist in the preparation and consolidation of site Geological budgets Seek means of reducing costs and increasing revenue through process and continuous improvement both technically and commercially Supervision and direction of Project Geologists, Mine Geologists, Graduate / Junior Geologists, Geology technicians and Contractors.
What do I need? 7+ years' mining experience (5 + years' experience in gold mining) Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the mining cycle from exploration through to mining and geological reconciliation from processing Demonstrated technical excellence and best practice methods in grade control, geological modelling and estimation Ability to accurately forecast budgets and manage costs Demonstrated experience in Leapfrog Tertiary Qualification in Geology Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, discipline and mentor employees in geological roles resulting in improved business outcomes.
