ABOUT US
Plate & Steel Industries is seeking an experienced and detail-focused CAD / Sigmanest Production Support Operator to join our permanent afternoon shift, supporting plasma, laser and oxy profiling operations.
This role sits between estimating/drawings and the shop floor and is responsible for ensuring parts and programs are production-ready before release. You'll act as a technical checkpoint, verifying that drawings, materials and programs are correct before they reach operators.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how small drawing errors become big production problems and takes ownership of getting it right.
Shift details
* Monday–Thursday: 2:00pm – 11:00pm
* Friday: 2:00pm – 7:00pm
* No weekend work
* Permanent afternoon shift (not rotating)
ABOUT THE POSITION
* Preparing accurate parts from DXF, PDF and NC files
* Reviewing and verifying drawings and programs prior to release to production
* Checking grades, thicknesses, scale, quantities and material call-ups
* Identifying and flagging drawing or scope issues early
* Preparing nests in Sigmanest for plasma, laser and oxy profiling
* Occasionally reposting or adjusting programs when required
* Providing technical support to afternoon and night shift operators
* Assisting with NSW workload when capacity allows
* Acting as a quality and accuracy checkpoint between office and production
ABOUT YOU
* Experience using Sigmanest (or similar profiling software)
* Strong CAD skills and ability to interpret fabrication drawings
* High attention to detail and pride in accuracy
* Comfortable working independently without close supervision
* Understands the downstream impact of errors and takes ownership of quality
* Willing to step in and help wherever workload requires
* Happy with permanent afternoon shift work
