Are you passionate about hands-on machining and interested in building specialist skills in a modern toolroom environment?
G.James manufactures precision extrusion dies used to form high-quality aluminium profiles. We are seeking a Process Worker/ Machine Operator to join our Toolroom team in Eagle Farm.
In this hands-on role, you will operate Electro Discharge Machines (EDM) to produce and maintain extrusion die components to tight tolerances. This position will suit someone who enjoys precision machining, problem-solving, and seeing components progress from raw material through to finished cavity.

The Role
4. Set up and operate CNC Sinker EDM machines to manufacture extrusion die components
5. Load programs, set electrodes, establish work offsets, and run production jobs
6. Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
7. Perform in-process inspections using micrometres, verniers, height gauges, and CMM reports
8. Monitor machine performance and adjust parameters to achieve required burn speed, finish, and accuracy
9. Clean die components ready for polishing
10. Complete job records, cycle times, and traceability documentation
11. Follow all Toolroom procedures relating to safety, maintenance, and housekeeping
What We're Looking For
12. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job specifications
13. Strong attention to detail and quality focus
14. Good mechanical aptitude and hands‐on skills
15. Basic computer skills for machine operation and job tracking
16. Commitment to workplace safety and following procedures
Highly Regarded
17. Experience operating engineering machinery (e.g. EDM, mills, lathes, grinders)
18. Background in toolmaking, die making, or precision machining
19. Trade qualification in Toolmaking, Fitting & Machining, or similar
20. Exposure to CAD/CAM or G-code
