Youth justice worker (custodial) - cherry creek

Become a youth justice worker and earn up to $107,278 per year, with a base salary of $81,496 (including standard penalty rates). As a frontline staff member, you will supervise and support young people on remand or sentenced to a period of imprisonment at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct.

Role & Responsibilities

* Supervise and support young people in custody.
* Follow and promote important security procedures every day.
* Act as a positive role model for complex young people.
* Set boundaries and reinforce expected behaviours.
* Create a safe and secure environment for both staff and young people.
* Help young people establish healthy routines and work to a daily structured routine.
* Direct anti‐social and challenging behaviour to the standards expected by the community.
* Respond to incidents as they occur.
* Help young people develop positive family and peer relationships.
* Facilitate support from other services, including health and mental health providers, educators and disability organisations.

Eligibility & Requirements

* You must be an Australian citizen (birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current passport required), a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a valid passport.
* You must pass a pre‐service health and fitness assessment.
* Independently obtain the following certificates, valid for at least three months from employment start date:
o Current First Aid Certification (HLTAID011)
o Current CPR Certification
o A valid Working with Children Check (Employee)
* A driver's licence is desirable but not mandatory.
