Bannockburn Golf Club is seeking a motivated and hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and ongoing development of our 18-hole golf course.
Located just 20 minutes from Geelong, Bannockburn Golf Club is a friendly and progressive regional club supported by an enthusiastic membership and dedicated volunteers.
Following the successful transition from sand scrapes to couch greens, the club has experienced significant growth, with green fee players tripling and membership almost doubling within the past 12 months. The club has a strong supply of reclaimed water, fully irrigated couch fairways, with a bunker less course and a five-year plan focused on continued course improvements.
The club is supported by a progressive and committed committee that has driven the recent course redevelopment and continues to invest in the future of the facility. A strong volunteer base also plays an important role in supporting course maintenance and improvement projects.
The maintenance team currently consists of the Superintendent, one apprentice, and a committed group of volunteer members who assist with course works throughout the year.
This role is suited to a working superintendent who enjoys being actively involved in daily course maintenance while coordinating and leading this small team.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and participate in the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the golf course.
* Work closely with and coordinate volunteer members assisting with course maintenance
* Supervise and mentor the club's apprentice
* Prepare and set up the course for competitions and club events
* Manage irrigation scheduling and monitoring including Rain Bird Stratus II
* Carry out basic irrigation troubleshooting and repairs
* Undertake turf renovation practices including scarifying, Vertidraining, dethatching and topdressing
* Safely apply fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides as required
* Plan seasonal maintenance programs and assist with annual budgeting alongside Living Turf agronomists.
* Maintain safe work practices across all operations
Skills & Experience
* Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (minimum)
* Experience in golf course maintenance and presentation
* Experience operating and scheduling maintenance of turf machinery
* Chemical application accreditation (ACUP or equivalent)
* Experience with irrigation systems (Rain Bird Stratus II and decoder systems desirable)
* Ability to lead and work alongside volunteers and apprentices
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Physically fit and capable of hands-on work
* White Card (desirable)
