HOPE has over 120 years of experience providing community services in Western Australia, supporting individuals in areas such as alcohol and drug issues, mental health, justice, and family violence.
The successful candidate will have personal experience with recovery from addiction and have maintained sobriety for a significant period. Applicants must reflect on their recovery journey, highlighting strategies and changes made, in their cover letter. About The Role
HOPE is introducing Peer Workers into our Community Alcohol and Other Drugs Service. Peer Workers are valued team members who connect with the community and support service delivery.
Responsibilities
* Serve as a first point of contact for clients
* Collaborate with clients and staff to identify goals
* Assist clients in connecting with community resources
* Facilitate support groups
* Maintain records of services provided using our online management system
You will also advocate for consumer rights and provide feedback to the Primary Health Networks about service barriers.
About You
Applicants must have personal experience with recovery from substance misuse or addiction and be currently sober. You should be willing to contribute to a supportive team environment and work collaboratively with community members and health professionals.
Some IT skills for record-keeping, good communication skills, and an understanding of local health systems are desirable. You must understand and maintain professional boundaries.
Appointments are subject to Australian residency or visa, a satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months), a Working with Children check, a current C or A class driver's license, First Aid certification, and referees.
