The Sphinx Hotel is an iconic, family-owned venue that has been operating for over 50 years. As one of Geelong's largest and most diverse hospitality destinations, our venue features a 200-seat bistro, busy sports bar, gaming lounge, motel, bottle shop and expansive function spaces hosting weddings, corporate events, live entertainment and community events.
We are seeking a driven, creative and highly organised Marketing, Functions & Events Manager to take ownership of our promotional strategy while overseeing event coordination and key administrative functions across the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys balancing creativity with operational execution.
What You'll Be Responsible For
* Planning and executing marketing campaigns to drive foot traffic and revenue
* Managing the Sphinx Membership rewards programme
* Managing social media platforms with engaging, brand-aligned content
* Designing promotional material including menus, posters and event collateral (Canva preferred)
* Coordinating functions and events from initial enquiry through to successful delivery
* Managing motel and event enquiries while providing exceptional customer service
* Handling administrative duties including phone management and booking coordination. This is vital part of the role
* Collaborating with department leaders on seasonal promotions and major events
* Supporting the continued growth and visibility of the Sphinx brand
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 1 year experience in social media, marketing or hospitality promotions
* Previous experience within a large pub, hotel or multi-faceted venue highly regarded
* Exceptional organisational and time-management skills
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities
* Professional presentation with a customer-first approach
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Gaming experience highly desirable but not essential
* Availability to work some weekends in line with event schedules
* Someone to start immediately
