Salary range: $129,464- $142,665 + super
Duration: Ongoing
Location: Hybrid working arrangements in place – in office requirement to attend Sydney McKell offices on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is subject to change based on applicable DCS workplace policies.
About the team
This role sits within the NSW Telco Authority Cyber Security – IT Apps & Data team.
An exciting ongoing opportunity has arisen for Senior Cyber Security Engineer with strong AWS/Azure cloud and OS Platform expertise to join the NSW Telco Authority, a rapidly growing agency within the Department of Customer Service.
The successful candidate will provide expert technical infrastructure, application, and data solutions to improve resilience against NSW's cyber security threats and vulnerabilities. The role also supports whole of government (WoG) responses to cyber security issues and risks to the NSW Government and contributes to strengthening the NSW Government's cyber security posture.

Your responsibilities will include
* Engaging and Collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to support the mitigation of AWS/Azure cloud and OS platform based cyber identified vulnerabilities, incidents, threats, and trends to improve cyber security posture
* Developing and leading Cyber IT cloud and OS platform projects to ensure continuous improvement of the NSW Government's cyber security posture
* Consulting on potential cyber security risks in the NSW Government Infrastructure, Applications, and Data ensuring ongoing compliance with Agency's cyber security policies and Cyber Security Policy
* Analysing and assessing cyber threats to government services, assets, and information to determine attribution, motivation and capability
* Developing and maintaining cyber security technical documentation in line with project and operational requirements ensuring documentation practices are maintained and adhered to
* Providing technical leadership and guidance in designing, configuring, and maintaining latest industry trends and to support the latest IT and cyber security risks and solutions to provide recommendations on best practices for cyber security posture across NSW Government

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate
* Essential Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and retain minimum Baseline Security clearance within six months to work with sensitive government and critical communications information
* Relevant Qualifications: You will hold certifications in IT, Cyber Security and/or Infrastructure and cloud systems qualifications
* Exceptional Cloud Skill and Experience: Strong knowledge and experience working with Azure, AWS, Windows, Unix, and Hypervisors, with a specific affinity for Cloud platforms
* Problem Solving Acumen: You love solving problems by thinking outside the box and finding new angles to approach them
* Collaborative Nature: Being a team player is key, you must be able to work well in teams and collaborate across different stakeholders and business areas
* Project Management: An ability to work effectively on simultaneous projects within defined timeframes and in an environment of conflicting and changing priorities
* Strong Stakeholder Engagement: Your communication and coordination skills will be integral to this role. You will be able to demonstrate this skill in forums such as working groups, committee meetings, and stakeholder consultations
* Industry Knowledge and Awareness: An ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge on ICT, cyber security, and cyber risk trends

We work with emergency services and telecommunications carriers to protect communications assets during emergencies and natural disasters.
