AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) drives revenue, adoption, and growth for small- and mid-market accounts and enterprise-level customers, including the public sector. The Solutions Architect team helps customers implement cloud technologies by designing highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that meet their business problems.
We are looking for a Senior Solution Architect to join our Public Sector team to shape and deliver a strategy that builds mindshare and broad use of AWS cloud services within strategic accounts, and to own the ongoing technical relationship with customers in the Australian Government community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Help customers plan their successful cloud journey, solving complex technical challenges and designing scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures.
- Drive technical solutions discussions and dive deep into details with customer teams.
- Build relationships and understand customer and partner needs, influencing stakeholders from technical teams to executives and ensuring short‑term technology decisions align with long‑term goals.
- Act as a thought leader in the wider community by educating, sharing best practices, presenting at events, writing white papers, blogs, and running workshops.
- Shape the direction of AWS products and services by gathering customer feedback and collaborating with engineering and service teams.
About the team: This role is within the Public Sector Solutions Architecture team, working with public sector customers in the Australian Government, National Security, and Defence.
Basic qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
- 7+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
- Ability to lead complex technical projects that may require the participation of other teams
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience communicating across technical and non‑technical audiences, including executive‑level stakeholders or clients
- Experience architecting or deploying cloud/virtualization solutions for enterprise customers
- Ability to create proof of concepts, demos, and/or scripts from scratch or leveraging reusable components
- Experience working with Federal government customers
- Ability to present to technical and business audiences (training, workshops, publications)
Candidates must hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance.
