The School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences is responsible for leading innovative, applied research that drives real-world impact, including advancing agricultural systems in northern Australia. Our Institute for Future Farming Systems (IFFS) supports industry and community needs through translational research and strong stakeholder partnerships.
As a senior research leader in the IFFS team, you will shape the future of cropping systems by leading multidisciplinary teams and major industry-partnered research projects. Your primary focus will be to drive scientific advancement in crop industries, including those emerging such as sesame and pulses, while delivering tangible value to industry and regional communities. You will bring strong academic credentials, an established research profile, and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to mentor early and mid-career researchers and foster strategic partnerships.

Position Requirements
A doctoral qualification (PhD) in agriculture, plant sciences, environmental science, or a related discipline, with extensive experience in cropping research and industry collaboration.
Recognised research standing demonstrated through a strong publication record and impactful industry engagement.
Proven academic leadership, with experience building high-performing, multidisciplinary research teams.
Demonstrated success in securing competitive research funding and managing large-scale industry programs.
Experience supervising research higher degree students and mentoring early to mid-career researchers.
Strong professional networks across industry, government, and the research community.
