Where You’ll Be Working
This position is part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team providing health and development assessment, liaison and planning for children and young people in out of home care. The team is passionate about improving health outcomes for children and young people.


About the Role
As a speech pathologist in our team you will work with children, young people, their carers and caseworkers as part of a team providing holistic, trauma informed speech pathology assessment and intervention. You will often work in close collaboration with the OOHC Occupational Therapist jointly with clients as well as liaising with other colleagues to support the needs of the child or young person. You will work across the New England/North West area to provide services so you have opportunities to get out and about and develop a large network of supports for our clients. You will also provide health education to children and young people and their carers along with advocacy to help meet their health needs.


About You
You will have a degree in Speech Pathology which provides eligibility for membership to Speech Pathology Australia and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience relevant to this role with children and young people. You will also need to be able to drive in NSW and have a willingness to travel, sometimes long distances, for work purposes.

A successful candidate will be experienced in providing child and family centred care with a holistic and trauma informed perspective. They will have great communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively with others as part of a team. Your clinical expertise will make a valued contribution to the team’s ability to support and improve health outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.


Support
This role works in a supportive team alongside our Paediatrician, Nursing, Allied Health, Case Management and Administration staff. Orientation and training is provided with ongoing support to appropriate professional development


Requirements

* Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

* Eligibility to drive in NSW and a willingness to travel as required.
