Farm Manager
Gill Farms Mildura is a family owned & operated company located in the Iraak Nangiloc area, approximately 30kms south of Mildura. The property is approximately 385 Ha and comprises Citrus, Wine grapes & Avocados.
We have an exciting role in our expanding horticulture company for a Farm Manager.
The role encompasses the day-to-day management of the orchard including:
· Determining, implementing and monitoring production strategies, policies
and plans
· Assume full responsibility for the horticultural programs developed to maximise tree growth and crop performance in a sustained manner.
· To evaluate orchard conditions and be responsible for the supply of optimum quantities of irrigation water and fertilizer to meet all orchard needs within the approved programs.
· Planning details of production activities in terms of output quality and
quantity, cost, time available and labour requirements
· Controlling the operation of production plant and quality procedures through
planning of maintenance, designation of operating hours and supply of parts
and tools
· Overseeing the acquisition and installation of new plant and equipment
· Directing research into production methods, and recommending and
implementing initiatives
· Monitoring production output and costs, and adjusting processes and
resources to minimise costs
· Coordinating the implementation of occupational health and safety
requirements
· Directing staff activities and monitoring their performance.
· To ensure all staffing levels are maintained against the approved human resource budget, with the assistance of the General Manager.
· To identify training needs of staff and be responsible for the implementation of appropriate training.
· Informing other Managers about production matters
· Controlling the preparation of production records and reports
We are looking for the right person with a minimum of 3 years' experience in similar roles. A in depth knowledge of horticulture practices in Citrus, Almonds, Wine grapes and Avocados is essential.
You must be a team player, with a very high work standard and a high level of attention to detail. An in depth understanding of irrigation systems is desirable.
You are an organised, excellent planner with a solid suite of management skills, self-motivating and task focused person. You have a sound knowledge of OH&S policies to maintain a safe workplace. Experience in farm development is also desirable.
The role is a full-time salaried position ranging from $75k to $110K.
