Logan City Council are looking for a suitably experienced Natural Areas Team Leader on a Permanent Full time basis, reporting directly to the Natural Areas Supervisor, located at the Marsden Parks Depot, within the Parks Branch.
The Natural Areas Team are a high performing team; our teamwork and collaborative culture is at the heart of all we achieve whilst maintaining and developing the bushland Parks of Logan. We are decisive and come up with high quality solutions swiftly due to our wide-ranging knowledge.
The role of the Natural Areas Team Leader is responsible for the on-ground implementation of bushland maintenance and looking after Natural Areas Team Members. These work programs include: Natural Area General Maintenance, Bushland rehabilitation, Fire Management, Prescribed Burn preparation and Natural Area’s Audit programs.
Primary responsibilities of this position
- Bushland operational maintenance
- Controlled fuel reduction and biodiversity conservation
- Wildfire outbreaks and emergency response
- Experience working with GIS, word and data base systems and ability to record information accurately
Requirements of the role
- Possession of recognised bushland firefighting qualifications (Level 2 Firefighting qualification preferred)
- Construction White Card and C Class Drivers Licence will be required for this role
- Ability to operate four-wheel drive vehicles would be an advantage.
- An MR license or the ability to acquire an MR licence within the probation period self-funded
- Possession of an Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control (ACDC) Commercial Operators Licence
- Level 1 Operate and Maintain Chainsaw certification from a recognised training provider (Level 2 Tree felling certification desirable)
- Willingness to undergo a Functional Capacity Assessment
- Senior First Aid or the ability to obtain
- High level knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation and requirements
- This position has been identified as having a ‘Significant Risk’ of exposure to a disease preventable by vaccination. Therefore, it is a compulsory requirement of the position that the incumbent have the following vaccinations (which may vary in the future) inaccordance with the terms of The Australian Immunisation Handbook and Council's Worker Vaccination Management Directive. Vaccines for this position currently include: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus and Q fever.
