Overview
Join our Financial Services team an established collaborative group that keeps the organization's financial engine running. Located in Coast Salish territory the Islands Trust is a federated body responsible for protecting the unique amenities and environment of more than 450 islands and surrounding waters in the southern Strait of Georgia and Howe Sound. We handle everything from payables and receivables to financial reporting, cash flow and policy development ensuring public funds are managed responsibly and transparently. You'll work with a diverse mix of professionals across HR administration, planning and governance in a team that values inclusion, strong communication and a good sense of humor while delivering work that truly makes an impact.
Responsibilities
As Manager Finance and Accounting you'll lead critical financial operations that keep our organization accountable and transparent. From overseeing reporting, internal control development and cash flow management to shaping policy and ensuring compliance, your work helps safeguard public trust and supports informed decision‑making.
Qualifications
* Recognised Canadian Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation.
* Minimum 4 years experience providing financial accounting and reporting and internal control services preferably in a private company environment or in public practice.
* Minimum 1 year experience in supervising staff, scheduling staff, allocating work duties, managing employee performance and delivering training and direction.
* Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following: experience working in a public accounting firm; experience working in a financial auditor capacity; experience working in a financial controllership capacity; experience using SAGE300 accounting software; experience using Caseware financial reporting software.
Additional Information
Must be willing to work overtime as required to meet deadlines.
Closing date extended until December 18th. This position is based in Victoria. Flexible work options available up to 4 days at home per week subject to a telework agreement. An eligibility list may be established for future temporary or permanent full‑time or part‑time opportunities. A Criminal Record Check (CRC) is required. Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment. This position is excluded from union membership.
