**The Role**:
Our SEM Fire and Rescue Division, which is based in Ballarat and has been building emergency service vehicles for more than 65 years, supplies innovative vehicles to numerous fire and many other emergency services and private customers, both locally and overseas.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager that will be responsible for managing the supply and procurement for a number of projects across the business to ensure projects are delivered on time, safely, quality is maintained and budgets are met.
**This role will involve**:
- Sourcing materials and components
- Negotiating best pricing and trading terms with suppliers
- Ensuring preferred vendors are used and processes are adhered to
- Review market and industry trends and propose strategies to improve processes as required
- Regularly monitor ERP to assist with ensuring production schedules can be met
- Developing a supply strategy
- Managing warehouse function and staff
- Working closely with our production manager to ensure we have stock and materials for production
**To be considered for this role you will have**:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous leadership experience in a similar purchasing role within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience as an analytical thinker and problem-solver
- Demonstrated experience in developing client relationships - internal and external
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably Epicor but not essential)
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
