Our team are often first on-site following disasters and catastrophic events, working to make the site safe while assessing, restoring, and rebuilding for people who have been impacted by an insurable event.
About the Role
As our HR & Risk Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our business, leading and guiding HR, safety, compliance, and contractor engagement activities. You’ll work closely with managers, employees, and external partners to make sure UBS continues to thrive as a safe, compliant, and positive place to work. This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same!
What You’ll Do
People & Culture
•Lead day-to-day HR operations, from recruitment and onboarding to leave management and employee engagement.
•Support managers with performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace behaviour guidance.
•Maintain HR records and ensure processes are fair, consistent, and compliant.
•Help shape and implement HR policies and initiatives that support our goals.
•Promote staff development, training, and a positive workplace culture.
•Be the go-to person for employee queries, ensuring fairness and clarity.
Contractor & Trade Engagement
•Oversee the onboarding and induction of subcontractors and trades.
•Ensure compliance with contractor management systems like Linksafe, CM3, and Avetta.
•Build strong relationships with contractors to support smooth service delivery.
Workplace Health, Safety & Environment (WHS&E)
•Support the WHS Manager to ensure compliance with legislation and safety standards.
•Help with audits, incident reporting, and return-to-work programs.
•Encourage a safety-first mindset through training and team engagement.
•Assist with environmental compliance in line with ISO standards.
Quality, Compliance & Risk
•Keep our Integrated Management System (IMS) up to date to support quality, safety, and compliance.
•Support audits and follow up on corrective actions.
•Ensure organisational policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements are met.
•Identify and help mitigate operational and people-related risks.
What We’re Looking For
•Experience in HR generalist or business partner roles, ideally with exposure to risk, safety, or compliance.
•Strong knowledge of Australian workplace legislation and WHS requirements.
•Excellent relationship-building, coaching, and influencing skills.
•Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
•Hands-on, practical approach with attention to detail.
