About the role
As a Gastroenterology Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in delivering safe, high-quality and patient-centred clinical services. You will provide specialist opinion for patients referred to the Gastroenterology Unit, ensuring best practice care and contributing to effective, efficient service delivery. Your leadership will help guide a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, supporting a culture of professionalism, excellence and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will provide clinical leadership that empowers junior medical staff, offering supervision, mentorship and opportunities for growth. You will also contribute to teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, helping to shape the next generation of clinicians. Working closely with the Head of Unit, you will support planning, service design and ongoing development of the Gastroenterology Unit, ensuring the hospital continues to achieve best practice in the delivery of high-quality clinical care.
About You
You are a highly skilled and collaborative Gastroenterology specialist who brings clinical excellence, strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering safe, patient-centred care within a multidisciplinary environment.
- A qualified and experienced specialist, holding Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and registrable specialist qualifications with the Medical Board of Australia, supported by demonstrated expertise in Gastroenterology and endoscopy.
- A confident clinical leader and communicator, skilled in problem solving, decision making, supervising junior medical staff, participating in multidisciplinary meetings and engaging patients and families in their care.
- An educator committed to professional development, with demonstrated teaching skills at various levels and a strong commitment to ongoing learning, quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Knowledgeable and ethically grounded, with sound understanding of contemporary medical practice, clinical investigations and treatments, medical ethics, and the standards, policies and safety frameworks that underpin effective public health service delivery.
