About the Role
Pathfinders is seeking committed and passionate Therapeutic Youth Workers to join our Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) team as part of our Out of Home Care (OoHC) Program. This permanent part-time role provides the opportunity to support children and young people who cannot live at home or in foster care due to trauma, abuse, or neglect.
You will work within a structured roster (including sleepovers and on-call shifts) and be part of a passionate, professional team making a difference every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day care in a safe and structured home-like environment
- Support young people in developing life skills, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships
- Assist with domestic tasks, health, education, and recreation
- Implement Behavioural Support Plans and therapeutic practices in line with the Sanctuary Model
- Work within a team to uphold duty of care, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity
- Maintain accurate records and daily logs via the AIMS system
- Promote connection with birth families, communities, and Aboriginal agencies to support cultural identity and wellbeing
- Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work or related field – or willingness to obtain (RPL may apply)
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a residential or trauma-informed setting
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal communities and cultures in NSW
- Ability to advocate for and support Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children and families
- Strong verbal, written and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to work independently and within a team-based, rostered environment
- Commitment to ethical practices, professional boundaries, and ongoing training
Compliance Requirements
This is a Child-Related Employment position under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012. Applicants must provide:
- Current NSW Working with Children Check (Paid Worker)
- Current National Criminal History Check
- Unencumbered NSW Driver's Licence
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
