Role Title: Hotel Management Couple / Individual (Live-in preferred)

Property: Lufra Beachside Hotel, Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania

Reports to: Property Owner

Employment Type: Full-time, hands-on management role

Direct Reports: Casual and permanent staff across Front Office, Housekeeping, Bar, Bistro and Maintenance

Role Purpose

The Hotel Management Couple is jointly responsible for the day-to-day operation, presentation and guest experience of the Lufra Beachside Hotel. This is a highly hands-on role, suited to a practical, capable couple who enjoy working across all hotel departments while maintaining strong standards, controls and team culture.

Ideally a strong experience in Food and Beverage management including ensuring adherence to food standards, quality, presentation, portion size and ideally engaging along with other and external experts on the ongoing improvement of the F&B offering and operation

The role balances operational delivery, people leadership, guest service excellence, and asset care, while working closely with the owner to improve performance, reputation and profitability.

Key Responsibilities (Joint Accountability)

Overall Hotel Operations

* End-to-end oversight of daily hotel operations
* Act as on-site leaders and primary point of contact
* Ensure compliance with WHS, liquor licensing, food safety and employment legislation
* Uphold brand standards, service quality and property presentation
* Provide regular operational reporting and communication to the owner

Front Office & Guest Experience

* Manage reservations, check-ins/outs and guest enquiries
* Deliver warm, genuine and professional guest service
* Handle guest feedback and complaints with care and efficiency
* Maximise occupancy, room yield and direct bookings
* Maintain accurate booking and cash handling procedures

Bar & Bistro Operations

* Hands-on service in bar and bistro as required
* Supervise food and beverage service standards
* Manage stock control, ordering, wastage and cost control
* Ensure responsible service of alcohol compliance
* Support menu execution and daily service flow

Housekeeping & Presentation

* Oversee room and public area cleanliness standards
* Participate hands-on in housekeeping when required
* Manage linen, cleaning supplies and rosters
* Conduct room inspections and quality checks
* Maintain presentation standards across all guest and staff areas

Maintenance & Grounds

* Carry out general maintenance and repairs (within capability)
* Identify and report larger capital or contractor requirements
* Manage preventative maintenance schedules
* Maintain gardens, car parks, external areas and safety compliance
* Coordinate contractors where required

People & Team Leadership

* Recruit, train and supervise staff
* Create a positive, respectful and accountable team culture
* Prepare rosters in line with business needs and wage control
* Lead by example with a strong work ethic and professionalism
* Manage performance, conduct and staff development

Financial & Administrative

* Control costs and operate within agreed budgets
* Manage daily banking, cash handling and reporting
* Assist owner with operational data, wage control and stock reports
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability

JOB DESCRIPTION (SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS)

Essential Experience & Skills

* Previous experience managing a hotel, motel or regional hospitality venue
* Strong hands-on operational capability across multiple departments
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
* Practical maintenance and problem-solving ability
* Sound understanding of hospitality compliance requirements
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
* Valid RSA (or willingness to obtain)
* Full Australian working rights
