WA College of Agriculture – Cunderdin is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Teacher – Building and Construction or Vocational Trainer and Assessor (VTA) to join our dynamic team.

Whether you are a qualified Design and Technology teacher or a skilled tradesperson from any area of the construction industry, we encourage you to apply.

We support non-qualified teaching staff to gain the necessary skills and qualifications to deliver Certificate training to students.

These qualifications also open doors to delivering vocational training in other settings, including TAFE and private Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

The Role

In this role, you'll design and deliver engaging programs aligned with VET Certificate courses in Building and Construction.

While experience in Vocational education and training (VET) delivery and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is ideal, it's not essential.

Industry qualifications and current experience are highly desirable.

As a Registered Training Organisation, our college offers nationally accredited training in modern workshops with industry-standard equipment.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.

At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.

Eligibility

If you are a qualified Teacher:

- A statement of up to three (3) pages, demonstrating your Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice, and Professional Engagement aligned with the and the context of the position and school.

If you are a Vocational Trainer and Assessor, in your application you will need to demonstrate competency against the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):

- Relevant current industry skills, knowledge, experience and competency in the industry vocation or professional field.

- Comprehensive understanding and sound knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training Quality Framework, including Training Packages, Australian Qualifications Framework, the Standards for RTOs, Recognition of Prior Learning and competency-based training and assessment.

- Ability to design and prepare training programs and assessment materials to a high standard.

- Sound written and verbal communication skills with the appropriate interpersonal skills for working with young people.

- Initiative and organisational skills and the ability to work as a member of a team.
