About the role
We are currently seeking Electrical Maintenance Technician (Electrician) to join the Maintenance team at our West Swanston Terminal. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrical Maintenance Technician (Electrician) is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and machinery to an engineering standard, ensuring safe and reliable operation at the West Swanston Terminal.
Key accountabilities
- Undertake routine and repetitive maintenance activities.
- Undertake Electrical repairs and refurbishment to the required standards.
- Ensure equipment breakdowns are responded to and addressed in an appropriate time frame.
- Ensure workplace safety considerations are taken into account when undertaking all maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all equipment following maintenance and fault finding and / or repairs is left in a safe condition and is fully tested before returning into service.
- Conduct regular planned Electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Source spare parts and technical information required to undertake maintenance and repair tasks.
- Utilise the computerised maintenance system to source store stock and job card information.
- Ensure the shift hand over is provided to the shift supervisor in a timely manner prior to the shift completion time.
- Perform the Relief Shift Supervisors/Leading Hand role when required; and
- Compliance with safe work practices, procedures and policies
Experience, skills and qualifications
- Successful completion of an apprenticeship in an appropriate Electrical trade qualification
- Hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, OR Certificate III in Electrician/Instrumentation or equivalent
- Have a valid / current A grade electricians' licence in the state of Victoria.
- Extensive experience as a tradesman / technician undertaking fault finding / diagnostics and Electrical repairs of heavy fixed plant and mobile fleet.
- Be able to read and produce accurate electrical drawings.
- Previous experience in Electrical maintenance procedures in a workshop and/or heavy industrial environment.
- An understanding and appreciation of equipment functionality and service requirements.
- An understanding of manufacturers' specifications, parts.
- The ability to be pro-active with regards to diagnostics, replacements, improvements, upgrades and alternatives to equipment as required.
- Experience with Siemans and Omron control platforms would be highly regarded.
- Experience with fault finding, installation, commissioning AC motor drives would be highly regarded.
- High attention to detail and an excellent work ethic.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Safety critical attitude to work; and
- Ability to work irregular day/night shift engagements including weekends;
- Must hold or be eligible to qualify for an MSIC card.
