Senior Business Analyst – Business Controls & Process Improvement
We're seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support business-led change across customer operations within a highly regulated environment. This role is focused on process improvement, business controls, and operational uplift, ensuring regulatory and policy changes are embedded pragmatically into day-to-day business operations.
You will work closely with business leaders, process owners, and risk & compliance teams to assess impacts of regulatory reform, improve existing controls, and strengthen end-to-end business processes that support the retail customer function.
This opportunity suits a BA who is commercially minded, process-driven, and comfortable operating at the intersection of business operations, controls, and regulatory change.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
* $900 per day (inclusive of superannuation)
* Exposure to working alongside one of Australia's largest energy providers
* 6-month day rate contract with strong likelihood of extension
THE ROLE
You will play a key role in uplifting business controls and processes across the retail customer portfolio. Working alongside business process owners, Legal, and Compliance Advisory teams, you'll assess changes to regulatory and internal policy requirements and translate them into practical, value-adding process and control improvements.
Rather than operating in a purely compliance capacity, this role is focused on how the business operates, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and control weaknesses, and driving structured improvements through clear analysis, governance, and traceability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Analyse and improve business processes impacted by regulatory, policy, or control changes
* Develop, maintain, and enhance the business controls and obligations framework supporting customer operations
* Partner with business process owners to assess impacts of regulatory or control changes and design fit-for-purpose process updates
* Work collaboratively with Legal and Compliance Advisory to interpret requirements and translate them into operational outcomes
* Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, risks, and dependencies across customer‐facing workflows
* Establish clear traceability between regulatory or policy requirements and business process changes
* Create structured workplans to manage process improvement and controls uplift initiatives
* Produce clear, business‐focused documentation to support governance, audit, and ongoing operational ownership
* Act as a trusted liaison between business stakeholders, risk & compliance teams, and delivery partners
THE COMPANY
Join a major Australian energy organisation committed to delivering reliable, customer‐focused services while navigating ongoing regulatory and market reform. The business is undergoing significant transformation and offers a collaborative, forward‐thinking environment that values clarity, compliance, and strong delivery outcomes.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst within energy, utilities, financial services, or other highly regulated industries
* Strong background in process improvement, business controls, or operational change
* Experience supporting regulatory or policy‐driven change from a business and operational perspective
* Demonstrated ability to uplift controls within existing business processes
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills across business, risk, compliance, and legal teams
* Excellent documentation, planning, and governance capability
* CBAP, Agile BA, or similar business analysis certifications highly regarded
