The Opportunities
We are seeking high-performing Assistant Directors to lead the delivery of high-impact community and business engagement, strategic communications and capability-building programs that advance Australia’s national interest.
Roles span community engagement, strategic communications, business and stakeholder engagement, grants and program delivery, and support to senior executives and boards.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will lead engagement with priority communities and targeted stakeholder networks across government, industry, academia and civil society. You will exercise expert judgement, cultural understanding and leadership in complex and sensitive operating environments.
You will plan and deliver community outreach and advocacy, provide high-quality advice and reporting on issues of government interest, and actively manage risks in sensitive policy and communications contexts.
You may lead strategic communications and external engagement activities, including public and ministerial engagement, to enhance organisational profile and impact. This includes oversight of communications platforms and contracts, delivery of high-profile events and public programs, and close coordination with departmental, post and agency partners to ensure alignment with policy and public diplomacy objectives.
You will contribute to strengthening Australia’s China/India capability through leadership of engagement with think tanks, universities, sub-national governments and industry.
You will design, manage and deliver a diverse portfolio of grant programs, overseeing all phases of delivery and ensuring strong governance, quality control and delivery of outcomes in the national interest.
You will mentor and develop staff, and undertake representational duties, including acting for the Director as required.
Chinese and/or Indian language skills are highly desirable.
