Head Teacher Welfare - Casino High School
Casino High School is a comprehensive secondary school with approximately 600 students, including 33% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, and a Support Unit serving about 80 students across nine classes. It is located in the regional town of Casino, Northern New South Wales, on Galibal land of the Bundjalung Nation.
The school prioritises student wellbeing, providing a supportive and nurturing environment and embedding the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) programme. Core values of Respect, Inclusion, Safety and Effort (RISE) guide all activities.
Staff are diverse and innovative, engaging students through varied curriculum choices that meet academic, vocational, sporting and social needs. The local community actively participates in events, fostering partnerships that offer students real‑world experiences.
Position Information
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, applicants should demonstrate:
* Capacity to build and lead wellbeing teams that foster a safe, inclusive, and connected school culture aligned with our values.
* Experience designing, implementing and evaluating wellbeing programmes that enhance student engagement, learning outcomes and personal growth.
* Ability to establish and strengthen partnerships with parents, carers, community agencies and external support networks to deliver coordinated wellbeing support.
* Collaborative working as a member of the executive team to advance whole‑school wellbeing, staff morale and strategic priorities.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programmes.
* Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.
* Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is required. Applicants who do not hold a full approval must commence the application process simultaneously with this teaching opportunity.
