Community Engineer (multiple roles and seniority levels) at Canonical. This is a fully remote role open to candidates across the globe. Canonical aims to set a standard of excellence in serving the open source ecosystem, and this is your chance to contribute as a Community Engineer at Canonical .
We are building community management at scale and have multiple positions available at different seniority levels. All applications and candidates are handled through this single entry point.
The role involves designing, executing, and scaling initiatives that foster a thriving community, coordinating with Canonical teams, and ensuring that community processes are efficient and well run. You will help empower energetic and ambitious community members to bring their own Ubuntu-driven vision into being, while aligning community efforts with Canonical goals.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically proficient person who is passionate about open source software, Linux, and sustainable community building.
In this role, you will support community initiatives with technical and organizational skills, work closely with developers to smooth processes, and integrate community plans with Canonical strategies for maximum impact. You will lead multi-disciplinary programs from conception through launch and represent community interests to Canonical teams. You will engage with volunteer developers in the Ubuntu community, helping them create successful tools and ensuring the sustainability of projects. You will produce content and provide technical support to keep the community engaged and informed, including regular blog and social media posts about initiatives, events, and collaborations with Canonical and the Ubuntu community. You will communicate with developers and engineers to represent Canonical and the Ubuntu community in the wider Linux ecosystem. Our team attends conferences and expos to discuss technical community projects and their development processes.
