On behalf of Cappa Construction & Maintenance, a growing civil construction and asset maintenance company operating throughout metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW, we are seeking an experienced and skilled Management Accountant to join our leadership team. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving financial performance through accurate project cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. You will work closely with project managers and directors to ensure our projects are profitable, competitive, and financially sustainable. This opportunity is a full-time position (38 hours per week).
Position Responsibilities and Tasks
•Monitor and analyse the financial performance of civil construction and remediation projects.
•Provide ongoing reporting on project margins, budget variances, and financial risks.
•Implement and manage job costing systems to track direct and indirect project costs.
•Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts and evaluate project profitability in real time.
•Support the estimating team by providing accurate cost analysis and financial modelling for tenders and proposals.
•Analyse historical project data to benchmark pricing and assess commercial viability of new contracts.
•Prepare annual budgets and periodic reforecasts, incorporating project schedules, labour, and material costs.
•Collaborate with project managers to ensure project budgets are adhered to and updated based on progress.
•Prepare project-level and business-wide cash flow forecasts to support operational decision-making.
•Assist with planning for progress claims, subcontractor payments, and capital investment.
•Deliver monthly management reports and dashboards for senior management.
•Ensure financial compliance with ATO and regulatory requirements, and assist with audits.
•Recommend and implement process improvements across finance and operations, including project tracking and reporting tools.
Qualifications and Skills:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
•At least 1 year of work experience in management accounting or project accounting role, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or engineering services.
•Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and tender financials.
•Advanced financial modelling capability.
•Proficient in accountant software.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with project and site teams.
Salary:
The role offers a remuneration package of $85,000 - $95,000 per annum, plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
