Position: Welder
Position Type: Full time
Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum
Location: Tarneit VIC 3029
Our client is seeking an experienced Welder to join their team located in Tarneit, Victoria.
As a Welder you will report directly to the Site Supervisor/Construction Manager and be responsible for fabricating, assembling, repairing, and installing metal structures, frameworks, and components used in residential and commercial construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring the structural integrity, quality, and safety of construction projects undertaken by the company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
2. Perform welding operations using various methods including MIG, TIG, ARC, and oxy-acetylene.
3. Fabricate and assemble structural frameworks, metal components, staircases, railings, gates, and other custom metal products.
4. Cut, shape, and join metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
5. Inspect and test welded joints to ensure compliance with Australian Standards and company quality requirements.
6. Maintain and repair welding equipment, tools, and machinery.
7. Follow safety procedures and ensure all work complies with WHS (Work Health and Safety) standards.
8. Collaborate with other trades (builders, carpenters, site supervisors) to ensure seamless integration of welded structures in construction projects.
9. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and quality checks.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
1. Certificate III in Engineering - Metal Fabrication Trade (or equivalent qualification).
2. At least 12 months of relevant work experience as a welder/fabricator.
3. Current knowledge of welding safety standards and WHS practices.
4. Experience in residential/commercial construction projects
5. Valid drivers licence.
Skills and Competencies
1. Strong technical knowledge of welding techniques and metal fabrication.
2. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
3. Knowledge of Australian Standards for welding and construction.
4. Precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
5. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability on site.
7. Valuable physical fitness and manual dexterity.
Employment Conditions
1. Position Type: Full-time, permanent
2. Hours of Work: Minimum 38 hours per week
3. Location: Based in Tarneit, Victoria with work at various project sites across Victoria
