The Role
The Business Manager will form an integral part of a high performing team responsible for linking financial management to capability outcomes that align with broader Government and Defence priorities. In this role, the Business Manager will contribute significantly to the Land Warfare Centre (LWC) by ensuring resources are planned, allocated and utilised effectively and efficiently to support the delivery of key training outcomes.
The position encompasses a diverse range of functions, including finance, procurement, stakeholder engagement, business analysis and data reporting. Operating within LWC – Canungra, the Business Intelligence Officer will work in a close knit, collaborative environment that directly supports LWC's training mission. The role requires interpreting complex information, applying relevant legislation, policy and Defence procedures, and providing accurate, timely advice to inform decision making across the organisation.
About our Team
The Land Warfare Centre trains and educates Australian Army Soldiers and Officers in the All-Corps skills and knowledge required at the next higher rank, in order to meet Army's need for world-class leaders focused on winning armed conflict. The Headquarters Land Warfare Centre team is a small but motivated and experienced cohort, comprising APS and uniformed members. As the Business Intelligence Officer, you will be working within the Operations Cell of Headquarters Land Warfare Centre. The Operations Cell consists of both ADF members and APS. The Business Intelligence Officer will coordinate and contribute to the work of the team consistent to a work plan. They will also provide advice and assistance on tasks and methods of completion to team members across the Training Wings who report to Land Warfare Centre.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to work with autonomy and limited supervision. They will contribute effectively within a small, collaborative team and bring proven experience in resource management, finance, and procurement, enabling them to confidently organise their workflow and make independent decisions in their area of responsibility.
They will possess, or quickly develop, a well-rounded understanding of relevant legislative frameworks, government decision making processes, and policy requirements, ensuring compliance and the provision of accurate, timely advice. Previous experience in Australian Government financial or resource management will be highly regarded, along with the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Army resource and financial systems.
The successful candidate will support LWC through informed resource and financial planning, develop high quality financial reporting, and manage capability resources effectively. They will build and maintain strong working relationships and actively contribute to team activities and shared outcomes.
