2 x Experienced Speech Pathologists required for a new community role in the heart of Australia.
The positions in the team are highly rewarding, well supported and also challenging. They provide services to clients in the surrounding towns and the remote Aboriginal communities in the Central Australian Barkly regions (approx. 500,000 sq kms).
You will visit the communities, travelling by road or aircraft with at least one other team member. All accommodation in remote communities is organised by the team. Driving licence essential.

There Are Two Options Adult caseload
Clients are community based with a focus on older adults. On the team there is a Speech Pathologist, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Allied Health Assistants, AHA trainees and admin staff. Many clients identify as Aboriginal and may speak an Indigenous language/s with English as a second, third or fourth language.
* There is support to access training and information about working in a complex cross cultural environment.
Paediatric Caseload
You'll be part of a team of 15 clinicians including Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. You will cover a caseload including:
* Children 0-18 years with developmental delays in a community setting
* Outreach to remote indigenous communities as part of multidisciplinary team
* Community Adults with communication and swallowing difficulties
The team provides allied health services (SP, OT and PT) to children and adults living in Central Australia. They service the urban area as well as the remote communities of Central Australia. As part of the role the therapist is required to travel to remote communities for up to a week at a time, approximately once a month. The caseload is varied and complex, and when in a remote community, the therapist will be the sole Speech Pathologist on the ground and so 2-3 years relevant experience is required.
They are a great team and work very collaboratively with each other and the many stakeholders and other providers involved in the lives of the children and families that they see.
Locum rates up to $70 per hour + super (depending on experience). You'll work Monday Friday. A driving license is required for this role. A car will be provided for work purposes.
The location is a great base for exploring the natural wonders of the Outback including: Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, the West MacDonnell Ranges and the Larapinta Trail, the Simpson Desert and the gorgeous NT watering holes. It's also a fascinating spot to explore Australia's Aboriginal culture.
