What we're looking for:
The Conversation is expanding its video output, both vertical and horizontal, onsite, on social media and for republishing. We're looking for an
experienced video journalist
to spot great stories and tell them in a compelling and engaging way through video.
You'll be creative, organised and full of ideas, as well as having excellent editorial judgement and a commitment to editorial independence and impartiality. You'll have the skills and experience to roll up your sleeves and shoot and edit vertical and horizontal video, publishing and monitoring their performance so we can constantly improve.
You'll work at two speeds: delivering quick-turn video on breaking news, injecting quality information into people's feeds and you'll foster a more nuanced understanding of the big issues with in-depth long-form video that dives into the issues people care about.
The Conversation is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We particularly encourage applications from people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, First Nations applicants and people with lived experience of disability.
Key selection criteria:
* Demonstrated ability to pitch, shoot, produce and publish compelling and engaging video content in an editorial setting
* Strong editorial judgement with an understanding of what makes video newsworthy and sharable
* Ability to meet tight deadlines, manage your time and juggle multiple projects
* Proficiency with video editing programs
