Drift Landscape Studio is a small, design-focused landscape practice. Much of our work focuses on high-end residential landscapes, alongside commercial projects, often developed in close collaboration with architects.
We are looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to join the practice and help lead project delivery as the studio continues to grow.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a small and thoughtful studio working on landscape projects across Western Australia. We value careful design thinking, strong collaboration and landscapes that are developed with clarity through to construction.
Although the studio is based in Albany, this role will be anchored in Perth, working from the office of an architectural practice with whom we collaborate closely. The role includes occasional travel to Albany and periodic travel to regional locations across Western Australia — typically in the South West and on the South Coast.
This position suits someone who enjoys the full lifecycle of landscape projects — developing ideas, resolving them through documentation and seeing them realised in built form.
The Role
The Senior Landscape Architect will lead project delivery across a range of residential and commercial work, translating design concepts into resolved and buildable landscapes.
Responsibilities
* Leading project delivery from concept refinement through documentation and construction.
* Preparing clear and buildable landscape documentation.
* Coordinating with architects, consultants and contractors.
* Mentoring and overseeing a landscape designer within the studio.
* Contributing creatively to projects while maintaining strong technical resolution.
* Working efficiently within project fee and time allocations while coordinating the work of other designers.
This role requires someone who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects, while maintaining a high level of design sensitivity.
About You
You will likely have:
* Degree-qualified in landscape architecture (AILA registration preferred but not essential).
* Minimum 6-8 years professional experience within a design-focused practice.
* Strong documentation capability and technical understanding.
* Experience coordinating consultants and resolving projects for construction.
* Proven project delivery and project management skills, including time, cost and resource management.
* A calm, organised approach to project delivery.
* Confidence managing projects and mentoring staff.
* A genuine interest in the relationship between design, landscape and place.
* Experience across residential and commercial projects.
* Advanced modelling capabilities, and ideally some experience producing 3D renders (not essential).
* Experience designing pools in residential landscapes (preferred but not essential).
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, relevant CAD-based programs and SketchUp.
