Reporting to the Procurement Manager the Material Planner will proactively manage purchase orders, forecast demand and inventory levels from a group of suppliers within agreed parameters to ensure company stock turn targets are met or exceeded while maintaining acceptable reliability goals.
We are looking for a self-motivated and driven individual who likes to be part of a bigger team. You will want to build an understanding of purchasing and inventory management, and will therefore be a self-starter, with exceptional communication skills and a quick learner.
Bringing along your friendly demeanour, a love of data and an eye for detail, your analytical mind can find imperfections as well as solutions, whilst taking into account the bigger picture. Ideally, you have a knack for numbers, negotiating and problem-solving.
The key accountabilities of the role will include:
5. Providing Customer Support for internal stakeholders
6. Assist with regular meetings with suppliers around KPI’s, stock levels, production issues, backlogs and supplier stock and turns updates. Escalate any concerns to the Procurement Manager
7. Managing supplier’s requirements and stock reliability
8. Managing weekly inventory review sessions and ordering stock to meet inventory targets
9. Analysing historical sales data, market trends, and other relevant data to identify patterns and make accurate demand forecasts
10. Developing and implementing forecasting models and algorithms to predict future demand accurately
11. Collaborating with sales, marketing, and operations teams to gather input and insights that can improve the accuracy of demand forecasts
To be successful in this role:
12. Previous experience in a similar role desirable
13. An aptitude for administration and organisation
14. Excellent MS Office skills
15. Tech savvy and can pick up new systems (previous experience using Microsoft Dynamics will be highly regarded)
16. Highly motivated, and use your initiative to succeed and develop
17. Experience and understanding of National and International Purchasing requirements, processes, terminology etc
18. Well-developed communication skills and a friendly demeanour
19. A “can do” attitude
20. Prior experience and exposure to inventory management
21. Attention to detail and accuracy
