This is a temporary full-time role, 09/03/2026 - 07/03/2027, possible extension of 6 months.
About your role
Provide general chair-side support to Dental Officers and Oral Health Therapists, ensuring dental treatment provided is of the highest standard. Perform support duties such as maintenance of instruments and equipment, ordering of clinical consumables and stock control to ensure that dental treatment is provided effectively and efficiently.
Your Duties
* Preparation of equipment, instruments and materials utilised in a variety of dental procedures including knowledge and understanding of the stages within a dental procedure and the ability to pre-plan and adapt as treatment proceeds.
* Ensure equipment and surgery satisfy infection control standards through utilising standard and universal precautions, preparation of disinfectants, decontamination procedures, barrier draping, utilise protocol for managing blood and body substance spills and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
* Ensure the use of infection control protocols and relevant standards for cleaning, disinfection and sterilising reusable medical devices.
* Maintain adequate levels of materials and instruments within designated clinical areas, by restocking as necessary, ordering of clinical consumable and stock control in the clinic, to ensure that dental treatment is provided effectively and efficiently.
* Assist in support duties such as maintenance of instruments and equipment, with the ability to identify and fix minor equipment problems and refer to the appropriate repair departments/person with accurate fault description.
Skills and Experience
* Certificate III in Dental Assisting is mandatory for the CA3 position. However, if Certificate III in Dental Assisting has not been completed, then appointment will be at CA2 classification in the Dental Assistant Training position until successful completion of the qualification within 12 months of appointment.
* Possession of a ‘C' Class drivers licence is highly desirable.
* Working across the different clinics in the Townsville region is a requirement of this role and the potential of an overnight travel to our Hughenden, Richmond and Palm Island clinics.
