The Role

The Allied Health Assistant will provide assistance and support for the delivery of Allied Health services to patients of the Forensic Hospital. The Allied Health Assistant will work under (the direct or indirect) supervision of an Allied Health Professional, and engage in work in a discipline specific area or assist in the delivery of allied health services, both clinical and non-clinical, across a multidisciplinary team.

The Allied Health Assistant will support the operational functioning of ward-based service demands reporting to nursing operations, under the supervision of Allied Health Professionals. The Allied Health Assistant alleviates workload pressures to give Allied Health Professionals, Nurses and other mental health clinicians more time to focus on complex clinical tasks and improve patient outcomes.

Essential Criteria

* Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent tertiary qualification in a relevant field, or related work experience and a willingness to work towards certification with the support of Justice Health NSW
* Previous experience in working with people with a mental illness

Our Location, Team, and Service

The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients.

A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals provide care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care.

While working at the Forensic Hospital, you will develop strong professional connections with colleagues and making a positive contribution to vulnerable people. A mandatory and comprehensive two-week, full-time orientation is provided. All days are paid. The next intake date is on 18 May 2026.
